“Afterlife” – Evanescence:
Evanescence have shared their first new song in four years called “Afterlife”,which is featured in the soundtrack for the upcoming new animated Netflix series Devil May Cry.
The song was originally started by Mako with a “unique direction with melody in the beginning”. It was meant to be a solo song, but Amy turned it into an Evanescence song. Production was handled by Nick Raskulinecz and Mako, with additional production by Tyler Demorest. Amy wrote the lyrics after watching the series before it was finalized to help get some inspiration. It’s a standalone release and will not be part of the sixth album.
Amy on the song in an interview with Billboard:
“For me, the song is both the pain and the resolve. From the perspective of someone who has lost so much, and will always carry the marks of that, but also someone who has reached the point of being past the fear. No trepidation, no hesitation in your quest when you have committed to the fight and have nothing left to lose.”
