- to develop your solo vocabulary, learning some Shelly Manne licks and stickings;
- Shelly was one of the most melodic drummer in history; listen to how he creates many different sounds and atmospheres, using brushes and mallets, but also playing some "special strokes", like the "pitch bending" using his elbow, playing on the rim of the snare, etc.
